Och Tamale gazolly gazump

00:06

Dayump dayadee yahoo! [Dog in Redlands jacket talking]

00:09

Welcome! And thank you for your interest in the University of Redlands.

00:13

No, no…I didn’t just have a weird sneeze attack, thank you for asking.

00:17

That’s part of the Och Tamale chant…it’s how we cheer here.

00:21

Who needs English, when you can make up your own words, right? [Girl shouting random words in a library]

00:24

Yep, we’re like the Lewis Carroll of colleges.

00:27

That’s how we operate our academics here too…with a pinch of freedom and a quirk.

00:32

But more on that later.

00:34

I’m Thurber the Bulldog, by the way. Redlands’ mascot, and your official tour guide.

00:38

Let’s get down to business. [Guy appears in an office with a briefcase]

00:40

We were founded in 1909 and we’re located in sunny California…about one hour east of Los Angeles. [Finger pointing to the location on a map]

00:47

That’s right…we offer the full Cali experience, dude. A laid back vibe, with beaches, mountains, [Guy with long hair on the beach]

00:52

and super sweet weather 24/7…365.

00:56

We have 3,300 undergraduate students…, which is on the smaller side, but if you can’t

01:00

pluck a few friends out of that pack, you’re just being picky. [3 people looking happy]

01:03

Our dorms are pretty standard, but full discretion…air conditioning exists on a building-by-building basis. [AC fall off one of the rooms]

01:09

But hey, if you can’t take the heat, get out of California. Or just wear a bro-tank. [Guy wearing a tank top at the beach]

01:14

..and deodorant..

01:16

We also offer off-campus housing and some suites for upperclassmen. [Guy wearing a suit in a nice room]

01:20

But if you're yearning to leave the nest, we'll let you move off campus your Junior year. [Woman sat in a birds nest]

01:24

It’s a residential area, so there are little houses galore.

01:27

Campus life is fun. We host All School Parties almost every weekend. They’re a

01:32

lot like those boy-girl parties you begged your parents to let you attend in seventh grade... [People at a party outside]

01:37

…just with less awkward "spin the bottle" games.

01:40

Or…maybe not. The people here are a nice blend of chill

01:44

and determined. If they had a celebrity couple name, it'd probably be "Chilltermined." [Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in front of a huge house]

01:50

But even though we're pretty chilltermined, that doesn't mean we're boring. Heck no, we’ve [Girl looking bored on the couch]

01:55

got it all…arty farties, busy beavers, and even a few young Republicans.

01:59

The reason for this diversity is that we offer a wide range of academic programs.

02:04

Want to make the big bucks? We have a business school and a good one to boot. [Lots of cash lands next to a guy]

02:08

Are you more of the want-to-make-the-world-a-better-place type person?

02:11

We can help you help others.

02:14

The Truesdail School of Communicative Disorders offers top-notch training in Speech-Language Pathology. [Guy pulling a funny face in a doctor's room]

02:20

We also have programs to help fight the good fight against environmental and educational injustice. [Guy walks straight past a woman giving out save the world leaflets]

02:26

And if music, media, or geographic information systems are more your style…that’s cool too. [Guitar, globe and an iPad appear]

02:31

Heck, we’ll even let you design your own major.

02:34

At the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies, teachers are more like academic gurus.

02:39

We let students negotiate their own course design and learning experience. [Guy wearing tank top talking to his professor]

02:43

It’s gotta be real though… babe-ology ain’t gonna fly.

02:46

But college isn’t all about classes, you know.

02:49

We’re in a great location for anyone looking to try new things. [Guy skateboarding]

02:52

Our campus is surrounded by beautiful mountains and deserts, so if you're looking to be one [Girl looking at the view of a desert]

02:57

with the wilderness, this is a greta place to start.

03:00

There are also some great local eateries and hangouts to get your grub on. And yes, that [Two people at a restaurant]

03:04

includes In-n-Out. Pro-tip: ask for animal style.

03:09

And before you throw your toga in the trash, fret not: we have a full Greek life for the [Two people wearing togas]

03:13

house party crowd.

03:14

So yup, we’ve got all those bases covered.

03:17

And speaking of sports metaphors, we have a division three athletics department as well.

03:21

We offer the full college experience here at Redlands. [Guy wearing a party hat and holding a big stack of papers]

03:24

They say college is the time for you to find you. We believe there’s a lot of truth to

03:28

that cliché.

03:30

And if you give that camping thing a try, you may need to literally find yourself. [Guy looking confused and asks a bear for directions]

03:34

No one knows how to use a compass anymore it seems.

03:37

The bottom line is…we want to guide you on that journey.

03:40

So come on down to Redlands and sing some nonsense with us.

03:43

It’s only mildly embarrassing, we promise.
