Yup. This is the ground floor, super basic, but utterly relevant skill. You're decoding. They're decoding. Everyone decodes together. They've hopefully been at this one for a while, so with a little more work and a little more practice, it'll become second nature.
If you find students struggling through a reading, come back to this skill and make sure your issue isn't at this level. If it is, it'll influence every aspect of student reading and learning across subjects.
