Common Core Standards

Grade 2

Reading RI.2.5

Know and use various text features (e.g., captions, bold print, subheadings, glossaries, indexes, electronic menus, icons) to locate key facts or information in a text efficiently.

A continuation of the introduction of how information is organized in a text, first taught in first grade, this Common Core standard asks students to find information using less blatantly obvious means (as opposed to blatantly obvious means such as chapter headings or a table of contents).
