Writing W.K.3

Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened.

Your little ones probably love the storytime rug, but they'll graciously accept the talking stick, too. Kindergartners should be able to narrate a single event or a few linked events—brushing their teeth, going grocery shopping, washing the dishes, etc.—with complete sentences. They could be ordering given pictures in the correct sequence, writing, or dictating, but whatever the medium, now's the time to get them using words like today, first, then, later, and more to pay attention to chronological order.
