More meets with Richard Rich and tries to convince him to become a teacher instead of a politician.
After Cardinal Wolsey is arrested, More takes over his position as Chancellor, which thrusts him into the debate over King Henry's divorce.
More, a strict Catholic, refuses to give his opinion on the issue, even after the King visits his home.
After Henry goes through with his divorce and separates the Church of England from the Catholic Church, More resigns.
Now in poverty, More refuses to talk about the issue in the hopes of escaping execution.
More is arrested after Parliament forces citizens to sign an oath declaring Henry VIII's spiritual supremacy.
After refusing to sign this oath, and also refusing to explain his reasoning, More goes to trial. Rich lies under oath in order to get More convicted.
More is executed.
