Breaking Dawn Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

R

Whoa, guys and gals, watch out for R as in Red Alert! When Breaking Dawn makes it to the big screen, it's very possible that it won't be a teen flick. While the other Twilight novels were in PG territory, this one ratchets the steaminess up a notch.

It all begins very innocently with Bella and Edward having a fairytale wedding. But once the deal is sealed and the happy couple takes off to their honeymoon on Isle Esme, all things get a little wild: slinky negligees, bitten pillows, flying feathers, bruises, and amidst all of it, Bella begging Edward for more. Here sex is mixed with violence because there's always the danger that the vampire Edward may lose control and accidentally kill his human wife. One Bella transforms into a vampire, she's not as thirsty for blood as she is for sex.

Even Stephenie Meyer admitted that talking about all the sexual stuff in the story makes her blush. Yet, due to fan demand, she gave a little 101 on vampire sexuality in the FAQ section of her website. The author also stressed in interviews that readers have to be aware of the special circumstances she's describing because, after all, Breaking Dawn takes place in a world of vampires and werewolves. So from a vampire/werewolf perspective, it might be rated PG…?
