(4) Base Camp

Yeah, this play is pretty experimental when it comes to some of its techniques and themes. When it comes to basic language and plot, though, you shouldn't have much trouble following the action.

Sure, you might walk out of the theater (or walk away from reading the script) with your head reeling… but your head will be reeling from all the crazy sex and casting choices in Cloud 9 rather than from it being difficult to read. The head-scratching will happen in the weeks following your experience of Cloud 9, when you'll stare off into space and think "Wait, did that really happen? Oh my gosh, are all relationships like colonialism? What is the meaning of life?"

Existential angst: yes. Having to look up difficult words: no. Rest assured that if it seems like the play is totally nuts, it's not just you. The play actually is totally nuts.

But not as nuts as the idea that all people can be slotted into tidy little roles.
