Keep on keeping on. The author knows times are hard, but he tells his readers: you have to do the time if you want to reap the rewards.

The faithless folks the author is talking about are the ancient Israelites. They didn't get to enter the Promised Land because they didn't trust in God. His advice? Don't let it happen to you.

Stop the slacking! The author thinks that his readers should be in the advanced stages of Christianity, but they're still back in the minors. Looks like it's time to turn this faith journey thing up a notch.
