Character Analysis
Camille is wife #2 for Dean, and the one he ends up with when the book ends, although we don’t have a lot of faith in his faithfulness. Interestingly, Sal remarks that she is Dean’s "best-knowing wife," and he’s glad Dean ended up with her. This is an odd note, since the last time we saw Camille, she was screaming and kicking everyone out of her house. She also never made the remarks that Marylou did to demonstrate her understanding of Dean’s madness. But she does seem to love him, unconditionally, despite being kicked around, abandoned, cheated on, abandoned again, cheated on some more, and lied to.
