    Forster thought the British were creepily in love with themselves, an opinion that comes across loud and clear in his writing. Besides Passage, he wrote a few other novels to slap English society out of its stupor.

  2. The Indian Redwall

    You may know Rudyard Kipling as the genius writer and novelist behind The Jungle Book. Unfortunately, though, he's also responsible for coining the phrase "white man's burden," referencing the need to pacify and civilize the people of India. Ouch. While Kipling may not have believed it himself, he wrote a few tales featuring members of the weasel family that could easily stand for the British Empire.
