Prometheus Bound is an ancient Greek play; most scholars think it was first performed sometime around 430 BCE. As you might expect, it has some references in it to gods and cities and places you might not be familiar with. This can make things a bit tricky on a first read—but, fortunately, there are helpful footnotes and websites like Shmoop to help you out with that sort of stuff. Aside from that, though, this is a pretty straightforward story. There aren't lots of crazy plot twists here: just the tale of one man… or, make that Titan, who dared to stand up to the king of the gods for what he believed. It doesn't get much more raw and basic than that.
