When Min meets Joan, Ed's sister, they bond over their shared interest in cooking and film. In the brief time they spend together, Joan mentors Min in the kitchen and loans her a film book she studied in college. Throughout the book, Joan drops hints left and right trying to help Min recognize Ed's treachery, but by the time Min fully decodes these messages, it's too late. Hey, at least Joan tries.
