"Holistic medical practitioner" is a wide umbrella, covering everything from the very profitable to the not so profitable at all.

While massage therapy might net its practitioners around $40,000 per year, aromatherapists (who legally require no education or certification) might find themselves making considerably less. Things get even more complicated in terms of salary forecasting due to the fact that most practitioners have hybrid (a mix of alternative and traditional) skillsets.

So, taking this with a huge pinch of salt (actually, let's make it a handful), the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the average salary of health diagnosing and treating practitioners at $86,720 (source).

How much you actually make is going to depend a lot on you and what you'd like to practice. Because much of holistic medicine doesn't really conform to medical guidelines or state health practices, you have a lot of options. And many of those options are creative, because there aren't a ton of jobs open at large city hospitals for people who dole out "meditation" and "relaxation training" as healing regimens.

The people really raking it in are the ones rooting their practice in typical (or "Western") methods. Okay, you want to tell someone with arthritis to eat a bunch of turmeric, but maybe you also know how to diagnose arthritis and how best to assign physical therapy and proven medication. Maybe you believe the diet is to blame for most medical conditions, but perhaps you pair that with being an actual nutritionist (albeit an herb-centric one).

If you go down that road, your salary is going to connect a whole lot more with traditional pay scales. And most of the time, those scales are going to be higher.
