Odds of Hanging On
While some claims adjuster jobs are going the way of the dinosaur thanks to automation, knowledgeable and experienced adjusters will always be needed for those amazingly complex claims.
Say that Mike hires a company to move his house from Point A to Point B. The moving company gets the house up on the trailer and everyone’s sitting around, waiting to leave, when Mike's good friend Bob drives up. Bob parks legally on the side of the road, next to the moving trailer. As Bob and Mike are giving each other manly hugs of farewell, however, Mike's house begins to slide off the trailer. Before anyone can say, "We're not in Kansas anymore!", Bob's car has been crushed beneath Mike's house.
There's no computer program on the planet that could figure this rigmarole out. What's needed is a human brain, a brain belonging to a claims adjuster. In this case, the adjuster will have to figure out exactly what happened, if policy coverage exists, and if so, how much the payout will be.
If you're this claims adjuster, you'll always have a job and, as you accrue more weird and wacky claims experiences, you'll move up the totem pole in the adjuster universe, dispensing wisdom as you go.
