Power

The whole point of being a priest is that you are essentially powerless. The teachings of the church are basically "You, meek human, are nothing compared to God." Which is fair. It would be a conflict of interest to really accept that you are in a position of power.

However...

Priests are often a community's prime example of morality. People will come to you for advice, with questions, with conflicts, and ask for your guidance. You're a vessel of God. So that's pretty huge.
