Job Satisfaction

General quality of life statement

Despite all the muck they have to deal with, animal science majors are pretty happy overall. The satisfaction rate (64%) may not seem particularly high, but it's significantly more than other college grads on average. Wow, what does that say about us educated folk in general?

Probably that we should be working with animals. That's got to be it.

The unemployment rate is also pretty low, which is a testament to the importance of this job. The world needs people to focus on generating more food more efficiently. Not to get all Interstellar on you, but famines are real, and farm optimization is going to be the key to our survival in the future. Just sayin'.

It's not all sunshine and dandelions, though.

The pay is a bit lower than average, but we like to think that people in this field aren't usually in it for the monetary gain. Maybe most are in it for the warm fuzzies they get from helping warm fuzzies.

Knowing that they're the reason animals are being treated well or receiving the proper medication can feel pretty rewarding at the end of the day.
