Application Checklist

Complete Shmoop’s Application Station (obvs).

Write a draft of your college essays. Have your mom, college counselor, and dog read them.

Ask for letters of recommendation at least 2 months in advance. You may need to ask several teachers, and don’t stress if they say no—they’re busy peeps.

Financial Aid Checklist

Make a budget. Once you know how much each year of school will cost, you’ll know what’s feasible for you. (Use our College Profiles to research the cost of the schools on your list.)

Complete the FAFSA.

Research and apply to at least 3 scholarships.
