This Common Core standard introduces students to myths and legends formally for the first time, which usually have blatantly obvious lessons or morals in them (not to mention their pervasiveness in society’s culture). An easy way to frequently determine the moral of a story is to ask students what happens to the main character and what the main character does during the story.
