The dog ate your license. Or it was stolen. Or it was burned in the fire that ate Grandma's house. 

Just go to the DPS, and bring proper forms of identification so that they can verify it's really you. It may cost you to replace it, which kind of stinks, but maybe you shouldn't have lost it, you know? 

What? It wasn't your fault? Sure, sure. They'll hand you a temporary license, and then mail you a real one later. Piece of cake.
