Out of This World! Er, Out of This District (Out-of-Disctrict Registration)
If you're coming here from somewhere else, and you have a vehicle that was registered in another state, you'll need to get it registered here immediately following your first day of residency or at a new job.
To register an out-of-district vehicle in Washington, D.C., you'll need:
- a completed and signed Application for Title and Application for Registration.
- out-of-district title or registration card.
- proof of insurance.
- proof of inspection.
- proof of address and identity.
- whatever DMV fees are required.
Get all of that taken care of and you're officially a Washington, D.C., driver. Good luck out there—you're going to need it.
