Assuming the roads are safe and clear, how fast can you legally go? Well, it depends on where you are. In a posted school zone, the speed limit is usually lower than the surrounding area. In business districts or on undivided highways in residential districts, the speed limit is 30mph. On divided highways in residential districts, the speed limit is 35mph. Specific sections of interstate highway or expressway have a speed limit of 65mph, but all other areas, including highways not otherwise posted, have a speed limit of either 50mph (undivided) or 55mph (divided).
