Not sure how much room to leave yourself? At 55 mph, you would need about 400 feet in front of you in order to have time to react and stop your vehicle. At 35 mph, you would need about 210 feet. These are the only two examples we have for you, so try always to be driving either 55 mph or 35 mph.
Be conscious of the fact that these numbers go up when the road is slick or there are other relevant weather or road conditions. You should always be able to see 1,000 feet in front of you, even if it means turning on your lights in the middle of the day or putting on your super-vision goggles.
