For Minors: Instruction Permit & Provisional License
Key thing for those of you under 18: get Mom, Dad, or your guardian to sign your application. And there are a ton of things to remember as a young driver.
A short list:
- You must be at least 15 years old to obtain an Instruction Permit and at least 16 years old for a Class C Provisional License.
- You have to pass the normal vision and written exams for the Instruction Permit, as well as the driving test for the Provisional License.
- Bring all of the proper identification. It's a lot harder than you think to get McLovin printed on your license.
- If you're under 18, you have to be in compliance with school attendance. So, if you planned on dropping out of high school to become a taxi driver, you're out of luck.
- In order to get your Provisional License, you must provide proof that you have driven the requisite number of hours and completed an approved traffic safety education course, likely given at your school.
