For Minors: Instruction Permit & Restricted License
Key thing for those of you under 18: get Mom, Dad, or your guardian to sign your application. And there are a ton of things to remember as a young driver.
A short list:
- You must be at least 15 years old to obtain a Beginner's Permit, at least 15 years and 180 days old for a Conditional License, and at least 16 years old for a Special Restricted License.
- You have to pass the normal vision and written exams for the Beginner's Permit, as well as the driving test for either of the two restricted licenses.
- Bring all of the proper identification. It's a lot harder than you think to get McLovin printed on your license.
- If you're under 18, you have to be in compliance with school attendance. So, if you planned on dropping out of high school to become a taxi driver, you're out of luck.
- You must provide proof that you completed a state-approved driver education course, likely given at your school.
