Activities of Daily Living - ADL

Categories: Insurance, Retirement

There are six activities of daily living (ADL) care facilities use when determining assisted living or nursing home placement: eating, bathing, dressing, pooping and peeing, walking, and not soiling oneself.

To receive long-term care insurance payments, an individual must be unable to perform at least two of the six ADLs.

Although most people prefer getting old to the alternative, living extended years may require in-home health care or an assisted living accommodation. Figuring out where in tarnation you or a loved one should go starts with assessing ADLs.
