Ancillary Benefits

If you get sick and have health insurance, the insurance company pays for the bulk of the expenses (unless you have really bad health insurance). However, a number of items fall outside most standard insurance plans. But there are insurance plans that specialize in picking up these other expenses. These are ancillary benefits.

Examples of ancillary benefits include things like transportation (rides to and from the hospital), drugs, silver-studded enema kits, an ear wax collection box, etc. Ancillary benefits can also include other types of insurance often left out of larger medical plans. Things like dental and vision insurance fall under this category.
