Bananacoin

Categories: Tech, Banking

A Bananacoin is a cryptocurrency tied to the price of a kilo (two pounds) of bananas on the international market. So, follow the banana. Beyond that, it begins to become a bit absurd.

Why? Each bananacoin is a digital token that abstractly takes the form of a contract for the purchase of goods to be produced in the future. Ok...although it is unclear if that is a banana-related good.

Every bananacoin does really represent just over two pounds of bananas that will be grown on a real and hopefully expanding banana plantation in Laos. Basically, a bananacoin investor is a quasi-shareholder in the banana plantation in Laos that wants to grow to an optimum size of 360 hectare.

In other news, Bananarama is still touring. Goddess on a mountain top.
