That's a licensing agreement, more or less.

One party wants to license a piece of intellectual property, a patent, or some other usually intangible asset...in return for cash they pay to the licensor. Most contracts require an up front payment, and then a kind of royalty stream based on volume sold. For the licensor, the marginal cost is usually next to nothing, as all they are selling is the right to use an asset they already own.
