Main Street

Most cities have a Main Street. But when you see this name come up in discussions about finances, it's usually being used to talk about small businesses and regular people—usually the opposite of Wall Street.

When someone says "Wall Street is excited about the new law, but Main Street might find it's not great" what they mean is that financial bigwigs are excited by the new law but small businesses (or you) might not like it.
