Okay, raise your hands. Who here has heard of AOL? Not the individual letters. But the company itself? When it was a Thing? Just three people? Sigh, oh well.

Back in the day (the Woodstock era of the internet), AOL had mindshare of, like...everyone. It had 10 million people logged onto its servers at any one minute at its peak, and it seemed like there was a newpaper headline about the company in every issue of every rag everywhere. It had huge mindshare. In people's minds, it was the internet.

But oh, how times have changed.
