Repackaging

Categories: Marketing

Gone with the Wind started out as a theatrical feature film. People paid a dime in the '30s to see it in a theater. Hopefully they bought popcorn. Or smokes. Or absinthe, or whatever they bought in those days. Then the film was repackaged as a television "event" when it aired on primetime in the '50s. It was repackaged again to be sold on cable in the '70s, and then on VHS tapes in the '80s, and then DVDs in the '90s. It was then stolen thoroughly by YouTubers subsequently to be viewed by whoever wanted to view it...free.

Repackaged to death, more or less.
