Oooh...ugly phrase. As in short-term investment gains taxed at the much higher ordinary income tax rates. Or short-term like the thinking of oh so many politicians. Or short-term like school periods that have been reduced because union school teachers have broken through budgets that school districts can afford. Or, in happier parlance, short-term bonds that come due in under a year. Or short-term liabilities due in less than a year (and less happy a thought than their asset-y cousin).
