Vocational Degree

It's basically everything Sally Struthers cries about when she hosts (or hosted) those DeVry Institute commercials in the '80s and '90s. Plumber. Electrician. Carpenter. Air Conditioner Installer. Car Repair. Car Service. And on and on (and on). Vocational degrees are things the world actually, um, needs. They are kind of the polar opposite of degrees from snooty universities in philosophy and English. Neither of those fields proffer any particular vocation, i.e. a means with which to pay your rent, let alone a mortgage.
