Princeton University
About Me
Intro
As one of the oldest universities in the U.S., I've got a reputation to protect. Make that several reputations to protect. I can't help it if I make my university neighbors a little jealous—from stellar academics, to eating clubs, to NCAA Div-I sports, I've got something for everyone.
Really, what I'm trying to say is: I'm good at everything. Nay, great. And maybe I'm a little less than humble…but let's face it. State schools wanna be me, other Ivies wanna date me.
If you do hang with me, I'll walk you straight through the doors of one of those members-only, upperclassmen-only eating clubs on Prospect Avenue. With bells on. I may be elite, but I'm not elitist. (To get into the selective eating clubs, all you have to do is "bicker"—just like Mom and Pop taught you at home.)
Diversity is really important to me. If you end up on my campus, you'll get to meet all kinds of students with a myriad of interests. Almost 40% of my students are minorities, and I boast an entire thirty-eight varsity sports to choose from as well as lively dance, music, and theatre clubs.
At the end of the day, I don't care what you study—as long as you work hard. I like my students smart. Especially the sort of smart that can help create a better world. I've had the privilege of being associated with a small army of Nobel laureates, National Medal of Science winners, Fields Medalists, Turing Award laureates, Rhodes scholars, and more since my founding.
I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
Name
Princeton Tigers. We know how to roar.
Hometown
Princeton, New Jersey. You know, the Garden State. (Don't even think of asking me what exit I am off of the Garden State Parkway. That joke isn't cute anymore, and besides, I'm off the NJ Turnpike.)
Birthdate
1746
Body Type
My 500 acres are home to over 5,000 undergrads. That might seem like a lot, but I've got almost 1,200 faculty members to take fine care o' those students. I have a lot of pride in my (student) body and I take good care of it. Read: small class sizes and a lot of individual attention from professors.
Current Living Situation
Almost all of my students live on campus. Count 'em: a whopping 98%. From Holder Hall in Rockefeller College to Little Hall, my students have plenty of options. People love living here, and why wouldn't they? I'm gorgeous.
Relationship Status
Back in the day, girls weren't allowed at Princeton. So I had a pretty serious thing going on with Evelyn College for Women. But Evelyn's defunct now that women are welcome at Princeton.
When it comes to haters, the Penn Quakers sure give us a run for our money. We like to think of our rivalry as downright civilized, though. Even friendly. When we're on the court, we're always head-to-head. Off the court, I try to get along with everyone.
Religion
I used to have close ties to the Presbyterian Church, but I've never been affiliated with any particular denomination. These days, I don't have any religious requirements for my students.
Politics
I like to think of myself as middle-of-the-road. Sure, there are some liberal-minded folks on campus, but there are more conservative politicos, too. Compared to other Ivies, I take pride in being particularly open-minded. I'm like Switzerland.
You should apply to me if...
you like working hard in and out of the classroom, and you've always wanted to sit at the cool kids' table.
