We hate to be the ones to say it, but your mom was right. Well, at least according to Shakespeare. This phrase is really getting at the idea that the truth usually comes out. Somehow, whether you want to or not, you can't keep up a charade for long. It might be a warning, or even just wishful thinking. But you can't lie all the time. People are bound to learn the truth at some point.
