In 1972 James Wright won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. In 2004 his son, Franz Wright, was also awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. They are the first father and son ever to have both won this prize. Sadly, they also shared the burdens of mental illness and alcoholism. (Source.)
James Wright had an amazing ability to recall what he had read. During one interview, he quoted many lengthy poems and prose passages from memory. Later, the interviewer "spent hours in the library […] checking these quotations," and discovered that Wright's quotations were almost always perfectly accurate. (Source.)
