Mrs. Tilley

Although Mrs. Tilley plays only a small role in the story's actual plot, we're given plenty of hints that she's played a big role in shaping the person that Sylvia has become—after all, she is the one who brings Sylvia to the countryside in the first place. Although she's as tempted by the hunter as Sylvia is, we never see her pressure the girl to do anything she doesn't want to.
