Jethro

Jethro has a hard knock life, especially since "in all his years Jethro had heard either the talk of war's imminence or its reality" (12.45). In other words, the kid's grown up surrounded by either war or the threat of it. Plus he has to man up and be in charge of the farm at the ripe old age of ten. And that's not even taking into account the emotional turmoil that comes with having the majority of your family enlist in the army. Bottom line, we're hoping that it all works out for Jeth in the end. He's the main man in our story, and we root for him from start to finish.
