Case File: Odysseus vs. Ajax

Case File: Odysseus vs. Ajax

Police Reports

Case Description: Complainant (Ajax) accuses Defendant (Odysseus) of coercion. After Achilles was killed, his mother, Thetis, said that his magnificent armor should be awarded to the greatest Greek warrior. Ajax and Odysseus both nominated themselves and gave speeches explaining why they deserved it. Wily Odysseus, who had a way with words, won the vote, but Ajax was sure he'd been cheated.

Case Status: Case dismissed. Ajax went crazy and slaughtered a bunch of cattle thinking they were Agamemnon, Menelaus, Odysseus and the other Greek generals who awarded the armor to Odysseus. When he came to his senses, he was so ashamed that he stuck Hector's sword hilt first into the ground and impaled himself on the blade.
