Character Role Analysis

Sue and Jim to Kate and Joe

Kate and Joe are practical, self-preserving, and attuned to what's necessary for comfort, but they don't talk about it much. Their comic foils are Sue and Jim, who raise haggling over money to almost Punch-and-Judy levels of aggression.

George to Chris

Chris is good-natured, friendly, and has a reputation for high ideals. George is surly, hostile, and an actual bearer of truth. The arrival of George in Act 2 begins to point out how compromised and self-deluding Chris really is.
