(4) Base Camp

Ginsberg made a point to write accessible lines that followed the patterns of spoken speech. You won't find a lot of elaborate constructions in this poem, but then again you won't find much punctuation either. It can be a bit tricky sorting out all the run-ons, but the major challenge of this poem is looking up all the historical references that would have been at the front of a reader's mind in the 1950s, but maybe not so much today.
