Hassan

Everyone's favorite Judge Judy-loving, pudgy Muslim is Colin's only friend in the beginning of the novel. He's the one guy who will put up with all of Colin's self-absorbed relationship drama, and the only one who cares enough to help his friend out of the dumps. But Hassan is much more than a typical buddy character—he's also Colin's guide in life. Say what? Hassan is the one who tells Colin to shut it when it comes to repeating facts no one cares about; he gives Colin girl advice about K-19; and pushes his friend to be more, shall we say, normal. Colin even recognizes it when he credits Hassan for helping him master conversations. Wait, did we say master? We meant manage.
