  1. The Westing Game
This is an oldie but a goodie. It's full on with a crazy cast of characters, intricate plot, lots of sub-mysteries and questions, and a clever detective who just happens to be a kid. In some ways it's similar, and makes a great companion piece, to And Then There Were None (except there are far less murders and it's definitely more upbeat).

  2. When You Reach Me
This is another story you and your students will get a kick out of. With its one part mystery and one part sci-fi, it's full of the detectivish kind of questions you'd normally find in a mystery and also the metaphysical kind you'd expect coming out of Einstein's mouth.
