(4) Base Camp
The Bourne Identity is a thumping pulp adventure novel. It's a simple story about bad guys being bad and good guys shooting them. It is quite long, and there are lots of plot twists and turns, which lift the book above sea level. But at bottom, it's meant to be good, page-turning fun for the general reader, and that's what it is.
