  • In the 50s and 60s Villiers was a general involved in the Algerian War. He breaks with French President Charles de Gaulle when de Gaulle moves to get France out of Algeria.
  • Villiers's son becomes a right-wing politician.
  • Villiers's son is killed by Carlos with a planted bomb.
  • Villiers becomes a politician to take his son's place.
  • Villiers marries Angélique, who is actually Carlos's cousin and lover.
  • Bourne contacts Villiers, and the two discover that Angélique is a plant using Villiers's house as a contact point for Carlos.
  • Villiers spies on his wife for a while, then kills her.
  • Villiers agrees to let Bourne take the blame for the murder of Angélique in order to flush out Carlos. He also helps Bourne get a flight to New York so that he can confront Carlos.
