We're going to be honest with you—we're having a hard time thinking of reasons why this text might be a challenging endeavor. This book fits well into the popular post-apocalyptic young adult genre that everyone and their moms are reading these days, so we think that students will likely be interested from the get-go. Also, it focuses on two young kids who must fight "the man" to save their city. There's mystery and intrigue at every turn.
That said, one potential challenge is that students might be annoyed to read about younger characters. We could see some eye-rolling happening. However, we think that once they get a sniff of the profound themes in the book, their eyes should focus.
