Okay, this book is long. There's no denying that. And the narrator, like a coy date, doesn't always come out and tell you what he's thinking. He sure likes letting you figure it out on your own. But it's great storytelling, it deals with events most of us have to learn in school anyway, and it's in modern English. Mostly, anyway. It'll be a bit of a challenge, but it's no Everest.
