If you see a giant with one eye smack-dab in the middle of his forehead (likely, we know), then you've got yourself a Cyclops. Basically, there are two main branches of the Cyclopes family. The elder Cyclopes are named Brontes, Steropes, and Arges, and these are the guys who got locked up by Ouranus and later by Kronos. Eventually, they allied with Zeus, forged some weapons for the Olympians, and retired to a cushy career working at Hephaestus' forge. (Fine, cushy for a Cyclops.) The other main branch of the Cyclopean family comes in the form of shepherds with a taste for man-flesh. This tribe became famous when Odysseus made a pit stop on their island and stuck a rather sharp stick in the eye of a Cyclops named Polyphemus. Ouch.

Oh, and before we forget: Cyclopes is the plural of Cyclops. Aha.
