Not only does Gram house the Tillerman kids, she teaches them all a thing or two about being themselves. She failed to reach out to her own children, so she’s determined to not only reach out to her grandchildren, but to teach them about reaching out as well. As mentors go, there’s no more important one than someone who takes on the role of the mother you never had.
