Johnny (Patrick Swayze)’s Timeline and Summary

Johnny and his dance partner Penny wow the crowd at Kellerman's.
But they're a little too, shall we say "dirty," for the Kellerman's crowd. They're instructed to give boring, normal dance lessons. Yawn.
At their cabins, they dance however they want to, far away from the guests with sticks up their rear ends.
Johnny teaches some skinny young girl to dance.
Later, that same skinny girl, whose name is Baby for some reason, tells him that his partner, Penny is in trouble.
"In trouble," here, is code for "preggers."
Johnny's impressed when this Baby girl gets the money for Penny's abortion.
He reluctantly teaches Baby to fill in for Penny during an upcoming dance show.
Surprisingly, Baby's got moves.
He hesitates to show her the big lift, though, eventually caving after an argument.
They practice the lifts in the lake so no one gets hurt.
At the dance show, Baby doesn't do the lift, but Johnny still compliments her.
After Baby's dad saves Penny's life following her botched abortion, Johnny feels inadequate. He's nothing, and he couldn't save Penny's life the way Baby's dad did.
Baby assures Johnny he's fantastic, and the two being an affair.
But Johnny's still judged by Baby's dad, and he's eventually fired for sleeping with a guest.
However, he takes Baby's advice to heart and decides to stick it to the man.
He returns to wow Kellerman's with one final dance number: lift included.
His reward: the acceptance of Baby's father, and Baby herself.
